Bio

A native of Ancona, Italy, Mauro attributes his love of cooking to his mother. Beginning as a prep cook in Rome, Mauro moved to San Francisco in 1984 to cook at several notable restaurants. After settling in Seattle, Mauro opened Assaggio, or "taste," where the menu gives diners a taste of Mauro's culinary passion, Italian style.
